Justin’s Fun Day should be bigger than ever this year.
Fun Day is Saturday, June 2 at the community park adjacent to Justin Elementary – but the event actually stretches over more than a single day as barbecue cook-off competitors will start their cooking on Friday.
“We need participation in the barbecue cook-off,” said Shani Ihnfeldt, the city’s event coordinator. “There’s still only two entries.”
There are four categories for the cook-off: brisket, chicken, pork ribs and beans. All interested applicants need to go the www.justinfundays.com web site to fill out the application.
Besides participants in the cook-off, Ihnfeldt is looking for sponsors and vendors.
“We’re looking for arts and crafts vendors,” Ihnfeldt said. “We have plenty of food vendors.”
This will be the first year for live bull riding, and Fun Day will finish off with musical acts by Makenna Miller, Two Door Ford, Mo Robson Band, and Ashley Lee. John David Kent and the Dumb Angels will headline the event.
