We gave it our best shot – and we missed.

It looks like this will be my last column for This Justin. It’s kind of like when the executioner utters that famous phrase, “Any last words?”

2012 wasn’t the only thing ticking down to oblivion Monday. So was the public’s patience with our elected officials in Washington.

At the end of a weekend dominated by images and words of unbelievable horror, I was able to escape to a fantasy world Sunday afternoon.

I was going to write a column reflecting on the past year, but I can’t seem to get the words to dance off my fingertips and onto my computer screen. And there are other things that are on my mind that I would rather talk about.

If you haven’t already heard the news, Virginia Blevins, our City Secretary/Assistant City Administrator of almost 14 years resigned her position for health reasons.

One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is looking at Christmas lights. It’s been that way every since I was a kid.
